REGATE: REgulation of the GonAdoTropE axis

[HHG axis]

Project overview

Overall objectives

REGATE lies at the border between Applied Mathematics, Control Theory and Computer Science on one hand, Physiology, Endocrinology and Cellular Biology on the other hand. It is interested in the multi-level and multi-scale modelling, simulation and control of the gonadotrope axis (also called hypothalamo-hypophyso-gonadal axis). The project articulates on the coupling between different mathematical (mainly: conservation laws and dynamical systems) and computing (mainly: temporal logic and model checking) formalisms with biological knowledge and data.
REGATE emanates from the former working group REGLO (REGuLation of Ovulation), which first benefited from an ACI (Concerted Incentive Action) RNTS (National Network on Health Technologies) in 2002-2003 and then from an INRIA Research Cooperative Action in 2005-2006. A complementary systems biology approach was initiated at the beginning of 2007 in the framework of the INRA AgroBI program. REGATE has been launched in 2009 for a 4 year timespan.
