Research
Researcher in the field of databases, I have worked for many years in the Verso project at INRIA, on the development and the foundations of query languages for complex data types, such as complex objects, spatio-temporal data and statistical data. I have developed the DEDALE system, a spatial database prototype based on constraints. I head the Netquest Project in LIAMA, developping new abstractions for programming applications distributed over networks.
Topics: Database theory, query languages, logic and complexity, networks, distributed programming.

Teaching and students
I have the habilitation in the University of Paris XI (1995), as well as in the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2006). I am the first foreigner to obtain this title, in any field, in the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
